[A few days were necessary just to equilibrate. But after initially tracking down Max (and calling him a complete wanker, along with a few other things not fit for print) and seeing to it that he actually came back to his flat, and sharing a few days of mutual awkwardness, a conclusion had been reached that something had to give.
"Something," ultimately, turns out to be sobriety. And for an evening, life is good - a table full of cans and bottles, the drifting ascent from a buzz into the first stages of drunkenness, and comfortable company. It's a welcome shift in perspective.]
Oof. You ready the next round.
[Flopping back on the couch, Jack grins over at Max, stretching lazily once he's found a good slouching spot.]
I will offer moral support from back here. Where I can't knock anything else over.
[It had been stupid what he'd done and he could understand the awkwardness which had fallen between him and his floormates. He must have given them both a near heart attack. But days have passed and he's managed to make up with Helios without completely embarrassing himself, and now that he's on his... severalth drink of the evening, it looks like he and Jack might be on their way there.
Probably a good idea to have another drink just to make sure.]
Your wish is my command.
[He looks over the selection of bottles and finally reaches for one at random. It turns out to be Bacardi and he doesn't remember picking it up but he isn't gonna complain.]
It's alright. I don't have much furniture to break.
[Laughing under his breath, Jack sprawls his arms out across the back of the couch and stretches his legs in front of himself, occupying the maximal amount of all that furniture-unoccupied space.]
Is that stuff actually useful when you've got magic flying all over the place?
[He pours them both a generous measure, tops it off with coke and hands one of the glasses over before sitting back on the sofa, leaning back against Jack's arm in the process.]
Mmmm, kinda? Magic is... it's energy. You can encourage it to go where you want.
[Jack swirls his drink and takes a sip, coughing into a laugh of somewhat overwhelmed appreciation. Max doesn't waste time with the mixers, apparently.]
I've been trying to learn it, you know. Just the healing stuff. But I think I'm rubbish at it, honestly.
Tcchhhhch-! [There's the giggly drunk coming to the fore, as Jack barely manages to choke his response through sounds of amusement.] Exactly, yeah. James Bond of wizards, that's the image you've got going.
[It is becoming a bit of a habit to spend more hours at Saori's house than back in his own room. He is sitting at the table, busy scribbling inside a notebook.
He is glad he made it out of that draft alive and that (most) of his bff's, bros and friends made it out alive as well.
Next to him is a horrible abomination that has to look like a sandwich. It looks more like a mess with Skittles sprinkled on top of it. Loki thinks he's alone in the house now, except for the dragons and the other animals...]
[He hates seeing Sabriel that way. He's been making sure to visit, getting into the habit, even if it's hard to see the results of his magic laid out in such stark relief.
Not to mention that he was maybe kind of avoiding Helios while he was here, because talking to him was awkward after everything that had happened on the draft and it was going to take some time to hit a kind of equilibrium again.
He heads out into the kitchen to grab a cup of tea before he heads home, back to enforced confinement with Jack and Eugene watching his every move. There's that kid there, Loki? The younger one (and he's trying not to think about the flaring anger whenever he thinks of the older one now) and...]
...the hell is that? I'm not sure sweets are sandwich food.
[He just stares for a moment because seriously, it looks pretty disgusting but then again, it isn't his job and his attention is still too much on Sabriel and how hurt she is.]
Well, don't come to me if you get sick. But enjoy it, I guess.
[Jack is almost ready to leave for the rave. It seems like the entirety of House 51 has convened to get dressed and properly kitted out, and he'd only snagged the first turn at the bathroom by virtue of needing to be at the beach early to finish setup.
Setup can wait, though. Because right now, he has nowhere he needs to be more than standing in Max's bedroom doorway, glaring at him bewilderedly before he tosses a little black leather case down onto his bed.]
Jesus Christ, Max, seriously? What are you thinking? For that matter, when the hell did you even sneak her in here?
[Max is pretty excited, he has to say. It's been ages since he's been to a rave and he has to admit, he's looking forward to it.
Of course, the mood is slightly ruined when Jack storms in, face confused and angry, and throws over his makeup bag.
He's just about to ask what's wrong (he swears he didn't use all the hot water and okay so his stuff sometimes sprawls a little but it hasn't been a problem before and...) and then his brain comes to a grinding halt and he just stares, trying to process that.
He gives Jack a look of utter confusion.]
What? Who am I supposed to have snuck in?
[He grabs his bag though, rummaging around it for the stuff he needs.]
Wait- wait you... you think I'm cheating on Helios?
[Max gives him a look of utter hurt and confusion at the accusation because seriously? It had taken so much to get to a place like this with Helios and Jack things he would just...what? Throw it away?]
[Jack snaps right back, anger met with something almost like scorn. Of all the - to come out and deny it when he was giving him a chance to kick it under the rug-]
We're in a house full of men, Max, don't you think there's something slightly suspicious about cosmetics sitting about in the bathroom cabinet?
Helios has been trying to avoid the mistletoe for pretty much the entire week. But it's rather hard when it's in every doorway and crevice imaginable. He'll make it to Max's fairly undisturbed but the mistletoe hanging in the doorway makes him frown slightly. He'll manage his way around it, knocking lightly on the door as he does so.
The mistletoe is certainly an inconvenience, although he's seen people having some fun. It's harmless, which is more than can be said for most of the Malnosso's shifts.
He answers the door, wrapped up in a thick jumper and padding around in socks, and beams when he sees who it is. "Helios! Hi! Come on in."
People were having fun but there was just something about it being brought on by the Malnosso that raised his hackles. It's not the worst or even the newest of escapades they've pulled but he would rather enjoy quality time with Max on his own accord.
"Oh! Ah. Th-thank you." He'll step inside a bit hesitantly before shivering the cold out with the heat of the house. "Keeping warm I see. Good, good."
He'll give the other man a light kiss on the cheek. "I-I came by to see how you were doing. I was just...ah making sure everything was alright." Though he may look like he wants to say more but refrains for now.
He bites his lip to keep from laughing as Helios sidles through the doorway, avoiding the mistletoe which had made itself at home there. He closes the door behind him to keep the draught out. "I'm not a huge fan of the cold. You don't look like you are either. Want some tea?" he asks. He probably knows the answer already.
He grins at the kiss, his hand brushing against the other man's. "I'm fine. Why? is something wrong?"
He shivers inwardly at the mentioning of cold, but he brightens when tea comes into the picture. "Oh yes! Tea-tea would be lovely, dear." He's used to the cold since it got rather frigid in Romania during winter, but he was never one for staying out in it for prolonged periods of time.
"I just...was wondering if you'd like to go to the, ah, h-hotsprings. T-today. Or-or tomorrow if it's too short of notice! I don't think the mistletoe goes up that far..." they would be able to relax as well in peace. Don't get him wrong he likes staying in town but, well, the mistletoe is awkward and he rather not run into it anymore than he has...
"I thought it might be," he says with a touch of amusement and squeezes Helios's hand for a moment before heading into the kitchen to put the kettle on. He pauses when he hears what Helios has to say, glancing over his shoulder at him. It isn't the kind of offer that he'd expect from Helios, and he hasn't been up there since Valentine's day and what a head trip that had been. Now though? Willingly and knowingly? "Yeah, yeah, I'd like that. A good way to get rid of the chill for a while, yeah?"

[Mixers are for wimps. And they were here to get drunk, weren't they? He takes a gulp himself, feeling it burn down his throat.]
Oh, really? The filial magic stuff? Huh... it takes practice. Even I was not always the suave and professional mage you see before you.

Here, try some. I am feeling generous today.

I think I'll pass. thanks though. Helios made cookies. I think I might already be developing diabetes.

Look. Everyone makes mistakes, right? I won't tell Helios. But you've got to cut this off now.
